Ioanida Costache is a U.S. citizen, a Graduate of Amherst College, whose parents left Bucharest in 1985. This year Ioanida is on a Fulbright grant researching the sound world of a grandfather she never met – a Roma violinist – by learning to play the „lautareasca” style and working to preserve this dying tradition in a documentary film.
