EVENTS: E. Patrick McDermott Talk

On April 2 2019, the American Studies Center, in collaboration with the Fulbright Commission, is pleased to host a lecture delivered by Prof. E. Patrick McDermott (Salisbury University). The talk -- Use and Abuse: The Rights of Defendants in the U.S. Criminal Justice -- will take place at Sala de Consiliu (Pitar Mos 7-13), at 11:00 AM.





Dr. E. Patrick McDermott currently serves as a Professor of Management and Legal Studies at the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University.  Dr. McDermott is a practicing employment law litigator and he negotiates labor agreements; he was the successful plaintiff’s counsel in the landmark Sarbanes-Oxley whistleblower case, Sylvester v. Parexel Inc. His cases representing plaintiffs on issues such as unlawful termination and denial of tenure contribute to his comprehension of, and methodological contributions to, the evaluation and study of workplace conflict resolution.


Dr. McDermott and his family lived in China for a year while he served as a Fulbright Lecturer in Law at East China University of Political Science and Law in Shanghai.

Prior to joining academe Dr. McDermott served Associate General Counsel for Labor Relations at ABC. Inc., a Division of the Walt Disney Company in New York City.


Dr. McDermott holds a B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations and an M.S. in Collective Bargaining from the New York State School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University; a J.D. from Rutgers-Newark School of Law; an L.L.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law; and a Ph.D. in Human Resources Management with a minor in Organizational Behavior from The George Washington University School of Business.
