EVENTS: Endtimes?: Crises and Turmoil at the New York Times

We invite you to a challenging event organized by the Faculty of International Business and Economics, Department of Modern Languages and Communication from the Academy of Economic Studies. 

The title of the lecture is "Endtimes?: Crises and Turmoil at the New York Times", to be delivered by Prof. Daniel R. Schwarz (Cornell University) at ASE, on Thursday, May 29, 2014, at 12.30 pm. Venue of the event: 1204 Conference Room, Mihai Eminescu Building

Professor Schwarz will talk about his book, Endtimes?: Crises and Turmoil at the New York Times, 1999-2009, discussing major historical events at the New York Times in a context that relates them to US history and to world history. He will also discuss the future prospects of print media and why the New York Times is the "worst newspaper in the world except for all the others" in a lecture that aims to engage both a university and a public audience interested in American studies, intellectual and world history, media and urban culture.


Dr. Schwarz is Frederic J. Whiton Professor of English and Stephen H. Weiss Presidential Fellow at Cornell University, with a very active academic career and an author of numerous books on English and American literature, Holocaust studies, popular culture, and media studies.
