EVENTS: Poetry Reading by Dr. Gene Tanta

The faculty and students of the American Studies Program at the University of Bucharest have the pleasure of inviting you to a Poetry Reading by Dr. Gene Tanta, American Fulbright Scholar 2012-2013. The event will be held in Sala de Consiliu,  School of Foreign Languages and Literatures, 7-13 Pitar Mos Street, Bucharest, on Wednesday, 16 January 2013, at 6 p.m.

Dr. Tanta will read a few poems from Unusual Woods, his first poetry book, while discussing the writers influencing these poems such as Charles Simic, Linh Dinh, Rosmarie Waldrop, Russell Edson, Tristan Tzara, and Urmuz. He will also read from his just-completed second book of poems, Pastoral Emergency, which brings together Oulipian and Conceptual Writing to put into play possible new ways of conceptualizing the dual crises of ecological and linguistic instability. Some of the writers influencing this project are Raymond Queneau, Georges Perec, Vanessa Place, and Craig Dworkin.
